      Background InformationUM-SCC-22A is a unique head and neck squamous carcinoma cell line obtained from the surgical resection of the primary cancer of the hypopharynx of a female patient (1, 2). UM-SCC-22A is negative for HPV-16, HPV-18, Hepatitis A, B, C, and HIV-1 & 2 viruses.

      UM-SCC-22A was established at the University of Michigan with written informed consent obtained from the patient and with the approval of the study by the Medical School Institutional Review Board.
