DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as undiluted serum. Recognizes the ~23 kDa raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP).
BackgroundThe PKC family of serine/threonine kinases plays a key role in physiological processes such as growth, death, differentiation, and transformation. It has been shown that one means by which PKCs activate Raf-1 signaling to ERK involves the loss of inhibition by RKIP. Although PKCs have been well established as activators of MAP kinases, their targets in this pathway are still unknown. The mechanism of PKC-mediated Raf/MAP kinase activation is of major importance since several components of the MAP kinase pathway are mutated in human cancers.
